As the Senior Security Integration Engineering Manager, you will be managing a team of systems integration and hardware engineers for security projects, focusing on a variety of solutions and systems for the Security/Transit industry. The Security Integration Engineering Manager provides leadership and daily supervision to a systems integration and hardware engineering department. You will manage a department of geographically dispersed engineers responsible for systems integration and hardware engineering solutions, project deliveries, integration and computer hardware innovation as well as proposal development and customer interaction in the Surface Transportation and Critical Infrastructure (ST&CI) Division. The projects that the team is involved with include intrusion detection, video security, access control, computer and network systems, warning, and other technical aspects of physical security, especially in the nuclear industry.

You will be responsible for the guidance and oversight of technical teams working on state-of-the-art command and control applications. You will need to interface with the customer and must be able to effectively communicate throughout the organization in a geographically dispersed business unit.

You will be expected to provide leadership to the Security Integration and Hardware engineers and handle manpower planning and employee development.

Job Responsibilities

General management duties Include, but are not limited to:

  • Manpower and resource allocation to include assignment of personnel to projects and management of technical resources and their project assignment.

  • Coordinate activities among the various remote offices of the Security Systems Integration and Hardware Engineering group and ensure collaboration and cooperation between the engineers at these locations.

  • Assist employees with career development.

  • Proposal development including technical responses, costing, scheduling, and staffing.

  • Identification of new business opportunities.

  • Customer interaction to develop relationships, understand requirements, and handle issues.

  • Ensure all Rockwell Collins ISO, CMMI, and engineering policies and procedures are followed.

  • Work with Project Managers and Project Engineering Leads to ensure projects are properly staffed according to project budgets and schedules.

  • Interface and work with the PMO, individual Project Managers, and other Engineering Managers to assess the engineering staffing needs both current and future.

  • Participate in departmental strategic and budgetary planning processes; prepare and administer work unit operating budget; provide recommendations on policies and goals desired; and implement new/revised programs according to established guidelines.

  • Prepare job descriptions, identify staffing needs, provide general direction, and assign specific tasks and responsibilities.

  • Evaluate and mentor staff on technical and non-technical aspects of their job responsibilities.

  • Provide functional management of engineers, including those working at remote locations.

  • Coordinate with peer Engineering Manager(s) within ST&CI for knowledge management, information sharing, and ensuring consistency of systems engineering processes and solutions across the entire organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • Engineering experience in project operations, including all phases of the system development life cycle.

  • Engineering management experience in a Project/Program environment.

  • Ability to lead and be responsible for the technical evaluation of employees using formal and informal (daily interaction and counseling) methods.

  • Ability to influence, inspire, and motivate all team members.

  • Ability to manage technical capabilities, including resources in a specific area, processes and tools of the overall Engineering Department.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Experience working within a formal systems engineering process-driven environment.
