Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Multicore & Airborne Solutions Hardware team for design and development of digital and analog circuitry for embedded systems utilizing Multicore Processing and Networking Hardware for Commercial Avionics. This exciting opportunity will allow the ideal candidate to join our growing team of engineers designing state-of-the-art, industry-leading multicore processing for Common Data Network and Secure Server Router designs. Our team also designs and supports Synthetic/Enhanced Vision Systems, Display Processing, Data Link and Communication Management products.

This position offers the opportunity to expand knowledge and skills of all phases of hardware development with requirement capture, design, integration, verification, factory transition, collateral support and customer interface. Your primary role will be to support new and deployed product developments. It’s an exciting time to become a part of our team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Requirements capture and review, and verification.

  • Designing and oversight for analog and digital schematics of circuit card layouts, and optimization for production efficiency.

  • Engineering analysis of basic to complex electrical designs.

  • Exploration of new technologies to meet future multicore processing and networking architecture needs of the corporation.

  • Updating electrical designs for parts obsolescence and new technology insertion.

  • Collaborating with manufacturing test engineers to develop production test software and hardware solutions.

  • Coordinating with application engineers and suppliers to determine root-cause and corrective actions of component failures.

  • Creating and oversight of DO-254 certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware.

  • Oversight of DO-160 EMI and environmental testing.

  • Preparing artifact submittals for Rockwell Collins product (TSO & PMA) and system (STC) airworthiness approvals to support global business objectives.

Basic Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Electrical Engineering discipline.

  • Experience or training in all aspects of the hardware life cycle, including requirements capture, design and development, requirements verification qualification, and certification.

  • Experience in analog and/or digital design.

  • An understanding of DO-160 EMI tests.

  • An understanding of DO-254 design assurance guidance for airborne electronic hardware.

  • Previous involvement with the creation of circuit card design.

  • Be capable of hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Utilize strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Possess interpersonal communication skills.

  • Be able to multi-task and manage through unexpected events.

Preferred:

  • Prior hardware design engineering experience with Avionics products or similar industry experience.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and product life cycle support.

  • Project management and team leadership experience.

  • Experience managing small cross-functional teams.
