The KC-135 is arguably the airplane that is most important to the success of the United States Air Force’s capability to accomplish its primary mission of global reach. Every minute of every day, on average, twenty KC-135 airplanes are flying. The Rockwell Collins Fixed Wing Systems team is directly responsible for ensuring the KC-135 continues to meet the needs of the Air Force every day and for many years to come.
The Rockwell Collins Fixed Wing Systems team is seeking a highly motivated Senior Platform Systems Engineer who can develop new and leverage existing technologies to provide innovative systems solutions for the USAF KC-135 platform. Responsibilities include platform system engineering through all phases of system product development including: program pursuit and capture, requirements capture and analysis, system architecture design, requirements allocation and traceability, system/subsystem integration, system verification, system validation and life-cycle product support. The candidate must be able to interface with business development, program management, software engineers, product-line systems engineers, hardware engineers and customers. The candidate must be highly motivated and a self-starter.
A successful candidate should have experience working in highly collaborative environments, demonstrate the ability to take ownership of tasks and lead efforts spanning multiple stakeholders, possess exceptional written and oral communications skills, the ability to break down and execute on complex tasks with minimal instructions, and have a keen aptitude for technical work that spans multiple levels of detail. The ideal candidate will have the following:
Candidates must have:
US citizenship and able to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline
Ability to collaborate well across multiple disciplines
Working knowledge of avionics and navigation principles
Preferred candidates would have:
An understanding of Avionics systems, software and hardware development processes
Knowledge and experience working with Avionics regulatory and certification requirements: TSO, DO-160, DO254, DO-178B/C, and ARP4754.
The ability to estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk
Ability to travel up to 10%
Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, ALM, DOORs, Subversion, PREP and Agile development methods
