We are searching for a Software Engineer to join our Airborne Information Solutions team in Cedar Rapids, IA (1000). Join a dedicated cross-functional team of engineers that creates information management software in a strategic growing sector that keeps planes connected!
As Software Engineer, you will develop embedded software and database software for the growing field of information management solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on all phases of the software life cycle and contribute to development of our next generation of devices flown around the world! We are seeking individuals with the technical skills and personal leadership to help enhance networking and communications systems development. A relocation package is available for qualified candidates.
Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of software. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.
This position requires commitment of professional hours that may require working beyond a typical 40 hour work week.
Design,develop, and document software within an embedded Windows, Linux, or Hosted Ground Server software system.
Participate in cross-functional team efforts for integration and verification of software.
Participate in Design and Code Reviews with other members of the team.
Implement change management and tracking of software requirements baseline.
Use test equipment (e.g. Logic Analyzers) and software debugging tools (e.g. Wireshark) to integration & test products. Apply techniques to identify root causes.
Individual tasks may vary
Apply knowledge: Product domain, Requirements, Design, Development, Test and Release software processes, tools, methods and coding best practices with primary emphasis on software design and development.
Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate RC processes and tools into product development, resulting in increased product quality and improving customer satisfaction.
Design, code, integrate, regression test, test and document software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.
Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.
Performs in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.
Provides engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.
Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.
Individual job duties may vary.
Skills in Object Oriented design with either Java, C# (.net), or C++ Skills in SQL or web service languages
Understand networking protocols or network security
Successful candidates will have the above plus:
Skills and experience in both Windows Embedded and Linux Operating Systems
Experience in Python (or scripting)
Experience with Software integration, validation & verification processes
Have strong collaboration & team building skills.
Additional experience a plus:
Experience with Cellular connectivity and Wi-Fi connectivity
Understand Cyber-Security threat modeling & PKI infrastructures
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
