Become part of the growing Commercial Systems Engineering ASIC/FPGA team. Rockwell Collins is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer to lead a team of engineers in developing and verifying AEH products. This position is for a highly experienced, highly motivated Electrical or Computer Engineer that will be involved in the design, implementation, verification and integration of a wide variety of high-performance digital systems that incorporate ASICs, FPGAs, and SoPCs into a product solution. As an engineer in this organization, you will be employing best practice design methodologies supporting our next generation of Avionics Products, in addition to numerous products enterprise-wide.
Requirements capture and decomposition.
ASIC/FPGA/SoPC digital architecture and design.
RTL coding and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, or System Verilog.
Recommend new tools and practices for continuous improvement in the group’s ASIC/FPGA design flow.
Creation and oversight of DO-254 certification artifacts for Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH).
Provide guidance or mentor, when necessary, a team of engineers with a variety of skills and backgrounds.
Perform the duties of a project engineer.
Bid creation and support RFIs and RFPs.
Manage scope, schedule, and budget for AEH development.
Communicate well with a wide variety of individuals including Engineering, Program Management, internal leadership and customers.
Experience using FPGA vendor specific tools (e.g. Vivado, Quartus, and Libero).
Experience using HDL simulation tools such as Questasim.
Experience with data interfaces (PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, CDN, ARINC-429, etc.).
Experience with implementing solutions that contain 3rd party IP.
Experience in creating timing constraints and achieving timing closure within vendor tools (e.g. Vivado, Quartus, Libero, Primetime).
Experience with clock domain crossing techniques and tools (e.g. Questa CDC)
Experience with Linux (or Unix), scripting, C/C++, Python, and/or Perl.
Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. Subversion, JIRA).
Ability to work with minimal supervision, as part of a team of engineers with a variety of skills and backgrounds, matrixed into projects with aggressive schedules and frequent milestones.
Able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
Willingness to travel (domestic and international <10%).
Desired skills of a successful candidate:
Experience with networking standards including AFDX and 802.3.
Experience with SoC/SoPC based designs including ARM Core architectures.
Experience with DO-254 design assurance activities for ASIC, FPGA, and/or SoPC developments.
Experience with OVM/UVM Methodology.
Familiarity with best practice chip-level verification techniques and languages (e.g. constrained random, functional coverage, SystemVerilog).
Ability to troubleshoot Design for Test (DFT) and manufacturability issues
Prior experience with developing in an Agile environment and knowledge of the Agile principles.
Prior design engineering experience with Avionics products and understanding of manufacturing processes and product life cycle support is desired.
Project management and team leadership experience.
Experience interacting with domestic and international partners.
Basics of risk management (identify, quantify, and mitigate risks).
