Job Summary

We are currently searching for a Systems Engineer to join our Airborne Information Solutions team in Cedar Rapids, IA (1000). Join a dedicated cross-functional team of engineers that creates state-of-the-art information management software in a strategic growing sector that keep airplanes connected!

As Systems Engineer, you will work with engineering management, program management, engineering teams, customers, customer service engineers, production, business support groups, and subcontractors to support existing products and create solutions addressing both domestic and international customer needs.

We are seeking individuals with the technical skills and personal leadership to help enhance networking and communications systems development. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of the product life-cycle. Candidates must have an engineering education. A relocation package is available for qualified candidates.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform Systems tests, integration, verification and validation. Including cross-functional team integration efforts and test automation (scripting)

  • Participate in troubleshooting, analysis, verification and validation for fielded products (hardware) and sub-systems of moderate complexity

  • Develop functional, interface and performance specifications for hardware and software implementations

  • Contribute to engineering estimates for tasks like; change requests or problem reports.

  • Capture, analyze, decompose, translate and create systems requirements

  • Help translate system level requirements into lower-level software or hardware requirements and implementation

  • Participate in software and hardware design reviews

  • Expand and apply knowledge: Product domain, Requirements, Design, Development, Test and Release software processes, tools, methods and coding best practices

  • Maintain awareness of technology within the Avionics Router domain and develop technology strategies to improve and develop technical roadmaps.

  • Participate in bidding pursuits and proposals, as well as DAR and SysNAR's

  • Understand and utilize internal processes, methods and tools for development and documentation. Develop metrics and defects trends, identify root causes and process improvements. Be able to recommend new approaches, tools and techniques that drive continuous improvement

  • Interface with the customer on all aspects above. Travel to customer location on occasion

  • Individual tasks may vary

This position requires commitment of professional hours that may require working beyond a typical 7:30 am to 4:30 pm workday, or beyond 40 hour work weeks.

Basic Qualifications

Must Have Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline

  • Experience/Classes with networking and networking protocols

  • Experience in Object Oriented design with either C++, C#, or Java

  • Experience with hardware or circuit card assembly, design, & troubleshooting

  • Ability to support occasional travel to domestic and international locations

Successful candidates will have the above plus:

  • Understand Linux and Windows Embedded operating systems

  • Be able to use test equipment (e.g. Logic Analyzer) and software debugging tools (e.g. Wireshark) for troubleshooting

  • Experience with Cellular connectivity and Wi-Fi connectivity

  • Experience in Python (or scripting)

  • Experience in an avionics/aerospace domain environment

  • Experience developing in an Agile environment

  • Experience with Systems engineering processes and tools (including full lifecycle dev)

  • Experience with Systems modeling and simulation as well as requirements capture & analysis

  • Experience with System validation & verification processes

  • Understand Cyber-Security threat modeling & PKI infrastructures

  • The ability to build relationships with a global engineering team and customer

  • Have strong collaboration & team building skills

  • Be able to facilitate effective communication with Systems, Software, Hardware, Mechanical, and Safety engineers.

  • Be able to communicate and write technical issues, risks, and status.

Additional experience a plus

  • Familiarity with ALM tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Crucible and A3T.

  • Knowledge of Jenkins and Robot Framework
