The Lavatories and Water Waste Systems division of Rockwell Collins formerly B/E Aerospace is the sole source lavatory provider for the Boeing 737 MAX program. The Lavatories and Water Waste Systems Advanced Lavatory is a cutting edge product, offering a unique value proposition that allows airlines to increase revenue and lower operational cost. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Project Engineer in our Lavatories and Water Waste Systems business located in Everett, WA.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Project Engineer manages all aspects of a project from start to finish according to specifications, on time and within budget. Serves as the technical focal in the cross functional team. Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
Lead technical product development or sustaining activities, ensuring project goals and objectives are achieved
Take full engineering responsibility, leading products through prototype, pilot and production builds
Develop project scope and plan for a new project and work with program management to conduct resource and cost analysis.
Create and review technical specification, development, verification and qualification test plans/reports and recommend modifications or adjustments in order to meet specifications.
Drive performance validation through the use of both practical and analytical methods (rapid prototyping, design stack ups, design studies, DFMEA, testing plans, etc.)
Manage prototyping and testing activities to accurately validate engineering design
Organize and lead design reviews throughout development lifecycle
Responsible for achieving design-to-cost and design-to-weight target
Create, review and implement engineering change requests and engineering work orders
Interface with customer on requirements development, validation and verification of product design implementation and qualification
Lead failure Analysis and reporting, including resolution of issues
Perform product level FMEAs as required
Develop test methods and conduct testing, data analysis and evaluation to determine or prove performance and reliability or understand quality issues.
Lead Design for Manufacturability and Design for Testability activities
Assist in developing project proposals and associated cost estimates
Support technical development on value engineering to improve benefits compared to cost.
Work with manufacturing engineering and supply chain to develop tooling and processes for prototyping and product realization
Support transition of new parts from design to production phase including support of Operations and Quality as required
Work with Product Support engineering team to monitor in-field product performance and drive product improvement plans.
Effectively communicate status of active projects through weekly status reports and assure timing metrics are met for all deliverables
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year College or University; and five (5) years related experience in technical product development, or product sustaining engineering
Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and working knowledge of a PDM system.
Strong project management, organizational and communication skills with the ability to work in a team-based setting.
Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institute
Technical background in fluid control, mechanics, electronics, aerospace, automotive, or medical fields
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to drive for results
Strong analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.
Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause and corrective action plan
Working knowledge of CAD software
