The candidate must be able to assist the engineering design effort in the areas of layout, fabrication, assembly, test, troubleshooting, repair and modification of both experimental and sell-able electronic / mechanical test equipment. The candidate must be able to operate electronic test equipment and utilize computer software tools to implement engineering design, testing and troubleshooting is essential to the job. The candidate will apply electronic and mechanical theory to configure, model, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify engineering prototypes and/or first article electronic equipment. The candidate will perform independently on routine engineering technician assignments and general instruction is provided for new/special assignments and must be able to follow specific instruction to perform technical tasks which requires a higher knowledge of engineering techniques, to supporting research and development of circuits.
Under minimal supervision, performs a variety of highly complex technical tasks which require a substantial understanding of engineering techniques and all technical objectives. Provide mentoring in the use of an increasingly complex engineering tool set. Works on assignments requiring considerable judgment and initiative.
Perform as member of a technical team utilizing effective communication skills, including leadership role and interaction with higher level leadership and customers. Actively promotes team decision making.
Provides technical recommendations for capital, expense and service acquisition.
Utilizes automated test or design software. Highly proficient at data analysis using required software tools. Generates programming scripts or macros for data acquisition or analysis.
Demonstrates use of resources to enhance job and product performance. Is viewed as a technical resource to others.
Conducts engineering tests and analyzes data to support recommended design changes when applicable.
Works from minimal documentation, written or verbal instructions, schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts and plans often requiring interpretation.
Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
Applies significant electronic theory to configure, model, layout, prototype, build, test, troubleshoot, determine solutions and modify electronic product for engineering efforts applicable to the department or program charter. May assist engineers with design and development of new processes and/or products.
Support outsourcing efforts per ARINC-625 test equipment development outsourcing standard along with Rockwell Collins policies and procedures.
Associate's degree or, in absence of a degree, three years of work experience required
U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card) required
Experience with component level troubleshooting required
Experience with network analyzers, oscilloscopes, multi-meters, encoders, actuators, resolvers, load cells, RVDT’s, and phase angle meters.
Experience reading electrical drawings and schematics required
