We are currently looking for a Reliability Engineer for our department RD&E in Nieuwegein, The Netherlands.


In this role you work primarily with New Product Development (NPD) teams to support and ensure that the products are designed with reliability in mind. Additionally work with After Market, Product Support and Sustaining Engineering, to evaluate in field reliability. You also support with the execution of reliability improvement projects for existing products.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Apply appropriate Design for Reliability (DfR) tools to support the reliability activities within NPD and sustaining engineering

  • Interpret, allocate and support verification of reliability requirements

  • Support mitigation of design and process risks by facilitating DFMEAs and PFMEAs.

  • Support the development and verification of system’s safety architecture during the design phase and during the verification phase (System Safety Assessment).

  • Apply system modelling techniques such as Fault tree Analysis, Markov modelling and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) to assess the effect of component reliability on system reliability

  • Execute lifecycle cost modelling tasks and guide the design teams to “Design for Cost and reliability”

  • Analyze field data (Life data analysis and repairable system analysis) to determine infield reliability and feedback information on failure modes and mechanisms to the design teams to ensure new products are reliable

  • Setup and execute Design of Experiments (DoE) to optimize design by identify factors which affect reliability


  • Master- degree in a relevant area (Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering);

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience within the area of automotive and/or aviation;

  • Good analytical and reporting skills;

  • Good project management skills;

  • Good communication skills (English);

  • Knowledge and proven experience of applying DfR tools;

  • Keen on setting up and following processes;

  • Self-starter and motivated;

  • Eager to learn and share;

  • Team player.
