Job Summary

Rockwell Collins’ Engineering Services is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Customer Service Engineer to join Rockwell Collins’ Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) team in support of VH-92A training equipment located at Quantico, VA. This position requires a high level of customer service interaction dealing with preventative maintenance, training schedules, simulation technology, maintenance and hardware/software support. This position also requires someone who can work independently but completely understand that every action they take can affect the team, their direct leadership and Rockwell Collins.

Job Responsibilities

  • Fielding maintenance questions via phone, email and in person regarding the training device for the VH-92A Aircraft.

  • Understand the maintenance and operation of the training device and establish a network of engineering support to reach into for assistance when needed.

  • Have proven record keeping abilities.

  • Be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the training device in accordance with the maintenance concept detailed in provided specification documentation.

  • Be responsible for initial start-up, software loading, pre-operational readiness checkouts, insertion of initial mission conditions and parameters, and other functions necessary to establish the training device is in a Ready for Training condition prior to scheduled training missions.

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on the training device in accordance with the procedures outlined in the Technical Documentation.

  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on a not-to-interfere with training basis.

  • Provide technical and advisory support to the assigned personnel and emphasize safety precautions.

  • The ability to work through complex problems using engineering technical data, wiring diagrams, test equipment and aircraft manuals.

  • Use unique software tools to load system software into the training device and to analyze software systems. Example include:

  • Network analyzers, serial communication terminals such as Putty or Wireshark.

  • Be able to prepare formal or informal training and presentations and have the ability to present the material as needed.

  • Liaison between Rockwell Collins’ program management, engineering and the customer.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience

  • 6+ years of experience in related field of expertise either in the military as an aviation avionics/electrical technician or as a civilian in a related field.

  • An ACTIVE SECRET security clearance or one that has been valid within the past two years is required.

  • The ability to obtain a passport.

  • Proven ability to interact with customers.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously while simultaneously working within a team.

  • Simulation training device maintenance and operational experience strongly preferred
