This is a position for a Principal Systems Engineer in the Advanced Technology Center’s Communication and Electronic Warfare Systems group. This position will develop proof of concept systems beginning from initial concept formulation through TRL 6 flight demonstration. The engineer will be part of a team that captures and leads programs for the advanced development of a diverse array of multifunction RF systems cooperating with communications, RADAR, and EW applications. These systems and applications will leverage investment in software, firmware, and hardware specialties in other departments, so interpersonal skills are critical.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experience with a range of RF systems that support communications, EW, and RADAR

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze systems and propose custom algorithms to counter those systems (e.g. technique EA, direction finding, communications modes, RADAR imaging, etc.)

  • Experience developing new Electronic Attack techniques in response to custom threat analysis for applications in EW and multifunction RF systems that support communications, RADAR, and electronic warfare modes

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external agencies and companies to maximize the benefit to Rockwell Collins

  • Experience supporting or leading capture teams for advanced program development and providing subsequent leadership on those developments for customers like DARPA, ONR, etc.

  • Experience leading and executing technology demonstrations at customer facilities

  • Ability to contribute to the development of long term Communication and EW technology roadmaps

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.

  • Current or former US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. US Citizenship is required.

  • Proven system architect comfortable with developing system concepts and missions, performing architecture trade studies, and generating requirements for flow-down

  • Ability to perform analysis of RF systems to determine vulnerabilities and support creation of RF techniques to exploit those vulnerabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to present at customer technical interchange meetings and proposal reviews

  • Demonstrated problem-solving using data-driven decision-making

  • Be self-directed, able to meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives with minimal oversight

  • Have excellent oral and written communications skills

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and work well within a design team environment
