Rockwell Collins is currently seeking qualified candidates for software engineering positions to support airborne platforms and ground based systems across multiple programs. The opportunities require individuals who can perform key software lifecycle development activities, including the design, development and integration testing of mission systems software. Candidates should be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast paced environment as part of a dynamic and growing software development team. Additionally, candidates should be experienced with common software engineering tools and practices.

The positions are located in Richardson, TX. A comprehensive relocation package is available to qualified candidates.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, integrate and document software of moderate complexity within software services, software components, software test tools and software test scripts.

  • Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems of moderate complexity.

  • Complete daily tasks using industry standard software development tools (such as Subversion, Clearquest, Atlassian Suite or equivalents)

  • Perform key software lifecycle development activities, including the design, development and integration testing of mission systems software.

  • Escalates encountered technical software issues to project leadership in a timely fashion.

  • Individual job duties may vary.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates must have the following:

  • US Citizenship

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline

  • Java programming experience

  • Proficiency in industry standard software development tools (such as Subversion, Clearquest, Atlassian Suite or equivalents)

  • Experience in all software lifecycle disciplines including design, implementation, and test

The following experience is desirable:

  • Java application development for Red Hat Linux and Windows systems

  • Object oriented design experience including UML modelling

  • Proficiency in using Eclipse IDE

  • Proficiency in unit testing with J-Unit or similar

  • Understanding of Network Management fundamentals

  • Experience with Ethernet-based interfaces including TCP/IP

  • Experience with serial communication interfaces

  • Experience of developing software for military applications and/or experience of working government programs

  • Familiarity with software design patterns

  • Apache Solr indexing and interfacing

  • Java Swing GUI development

Candidates should possess the following attributes:
