As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Design Engineer in Super First Class group of our Seating Products business located in Winston-Salem, NC.


  • Provides support as a design lead or as part of a team on projects nvolving multiple cross-functional teams, focusing on delivery of local program work packages, within prescribed time frame from initiation through delivery.

  • Applies standard engineering techniques to provide solutions to problems involving a limited number of variables.

  • Participates in team brainstorming sessions to develop clean sheet, market leading designs for various aesthetic solutions and complex mechanical mechanisms, based on Customer requirements and supplied A-surface geometry.

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers, translating technical information.

  • Participates in design reviews throughout each phase of the new product introduction process.

  • Participates in the selection and application of materials and processes appropriate to each design element.

  • Checks engineering packages.

  • Generates and/or revises specifications.

  • Assists in producing engineering quotes to specifications or customer repair demand.

  • Performs conventional less complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations.

  • Participates with drafters, technicians, and others to contribute to project completion

  • Coordinates work with other engineers and operating groups to facilitate participation of various organizational units.

  • Ensuring successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.

  • Participating in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work.

  • Applying lean principles and supporting continuous improvement throughout the facility.

  • Develops, evaluates and documents processes.

  • Provides engineering support within operations to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems with sound engineer solutions.


  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Eight (8) years' of experience in a product design discipline.


  • Previous aerospace experience, preferably in aircraft interiors

  • Previous experience in design using composite materials

  • Five years aerospace industry experience

  • Lean certification

  • Two years CAD modelling experience

  • Unigraphics 7.5 or better

  • Teamcenter 8 or better

  • Understanding of Microsoft Excel, Word & Powerpoint

  • Ability to coach and mentor other engineers and technicians as directed

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to successfully prioritize multiple projects and/or tasks

  • Stay organized and prioritize multiple projects
