With a global installed base of 1 million passenger seats, the Aftermarket Services business offers a comprehensive aftermarket service to our customers. These services include spare parts supply and repair services across all classes of seat whether it is Super First Class, Business Class or Economy Class.
As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Senior Supply Chain Manager in our Aftermarket Services business located in Winston-Salem, NC.
The Supply Chain Manager will lead and supervise a Tactical Purchasing team by planning, managing, and coordinating activities of Buyers who are engaged in sourcing and purchasing machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, packaging materials, parts, services, and/or supplies necessary for operation of the organization. The Supply Chain Manager will work with the Tactical Purchasing team to determine the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules, as well as to negotiate prices, select or recommend suppliers, analyze trends, and maintain necessary records.
This role will also supervise supplier relationships, analyzing suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect prices.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Motivates, retains, develops, and supervises an appropriately skilled team of Tactical Buyers and Expeditors.
Develops and coordinates technical training for staff.
Leads and works with the SAO Aftermarket Tactical Purchasing team to procure parts to customer requirements within set timescales.
Drives continuous improvement in Supply Chain process and standards as measured by KPI’s.
Utilizes the MRP system to understand demand, and track and report on key trends to Senior Management.
Assumes responsibility for the information in the MRP system to ensure that (amongst others) supplier information, lead-times, pricing, and safety stock levels are correct.
Acquires parts in a timely manner at a price equal to or less than the accounting Standard cost.
Manages inventory through scheduling and communication with suppliers including the use of the B/E Aerospace Buyer Supplier portal.
Assumes responsibility for the security of the supply chain and the uninterrupted supply of all materials.
Attends and presents at internal progress/production meetings.
Drives the Tactical Purchasing team in utilizing, where possible, approved Low Cost Country suppliers to contribute to an overall purchasing spend of x percent (where x = the current key objective figure) of total spend in LCC.
Actively program manages internal departments (purchasing, planning, engineering, and operations) to ensure on-time delivery performance and targets are achieved for customer accounts, as required.
Drives improvements in service performance, as measured by customer satisfaction, operational measures, and productivity, by deploying best practices; and ensures appropriate measurement and monitoring is established.
Establishes and implements continuous process improvement by monitoring supplier and customer interactions and by obtaining direct supplier and customer feedback on the standards of service delivered by the Tactical Purchasing team.
Develops and maintains positive relationships with key internal and external customers and suppliers (e.g. sales and marketing, operations, MIS) in order to ensure that supply chain targets are achieved.
Forecasts and manages the operating budget for the area of responsibility.
Continually assesses market conditions which may affect procurements.
Interfaces internally with the supply chain teams in Leighton Buzzard, UK, and Winston Salem, NC, operations teams, cost estimating teams, account managers, and customer service teams.
Interfaces externally with B/E facilities with manufacturing capability or stock holding capacities and the vendor base, as well as regulatory authorities for audit purposes as appropriate.
Supervises the negotiation of blanket orders and long-term purchase agreements covering procurement of major commodities.
Eight years of related experience. Or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience.
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience.
Materials management background using MRP / ERP systems.
Experience successfully managing a team.
Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills; and demonstrated ability to build credibility with, interact with, and provide service to internal and external customers.
Proven ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities, as well as prioritize and escalate appropriately; action-oriented.
Proven skills in the areas of initiative, individual leadership, teamwork, collaboration, and facilitation.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); especially in Excel and PowerPoint.
Related experience in a highly regulated & technical industry, especially aerospace and/or automotive.
Experience in a low volume, high mix supply chain environment, especially a spares business.
Experience using JD Edwards, Enterprise-One, and/or JD World.
Strong Commercial / Business acumen.
Experience working in a highly matrixed, global organization; working closely with international team members and key stakeholders.
